The name or term "M-25 Plasma Rifle" should not be confused with M-25 Phased Plasma Pulse-Gun.
The Westinghouse M-25 Plasma Rifle[1] was a plasma rifle utilized by the Resistance. The weapon has an optional sight attachment for CRT scope. The plasma rifle has a total of 40 pulses[citation needed].

During the Future War, Kyle Reese carried a M-25 Plasma Rifle whenever he was on a battlefield. He referred his M-15 as both his "lover" and "best friend". The Terminator (Frakes novel)

- The weapon is based on the actual bullpup variation of the Valmet M82 assault rifle chambered in the 5.56×45mm NATO.
- The iconic rifle carried by T-800 Endoskeleton introduced in Terminator 2: Judgment Day is called Westinghouse M-25 40-watt Phased Plasma Pulse-Gun[2], which shares a very similar name with M-25 Plasma Rifle. However, Kyle's weapon can be attached with a CRT scope, while T-800's rifle is not seen with one yet. It is possibly the two are different weapon, or, the weapon has been redesigned during the production of the film Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Additionally, there is an M-25 Plasma Pulse Rifle in the novel Terminator Hunt.
