The Cyberdyne Systems Model 101 Series 800 "Guardian" [1] was sent from the future. Its mission was to protect young Sarah Connor, which it successfully completed.

this t-800 was sent to 1973 to protect a young Sarah Connor from a t-1000 sent by skynet to kill her .But ends up raising ,protecting as well as training Sarah after her parents were killed by the t-1000 and forms a very strong father/daughter bond with sarah.when the 1984 t-800 arrives at Griffith park observatory the t-800 known as guardian or pops confronts the t-800 and battles as well as distract it so Sarah could shoot the t-800 witch sucssedes.soon guardian meets Kyle Reese who was also sent to the future to protect Sarah connor but Kyle ends up almost killing guardian after relizing he was in the back of the truck Sarah was driving which crashes and guardian has to knock Kyle out.when reese wakes up Sarah explains to Kyle that the guardian was also sent to protect her but over 10 years ago.seeing Sarah in danger guardian grabs the melted t-1000 and throws it in acid which kills it but takes the skin off guardians hand making him unable to time travel with Sarah and Kyle to 2017 and must wait 33 years for their arrival.in a flashback we see the young sarah connor in the lake ,and the young guardian walking on the dock before looking down at Sarah who also looks at him and we see guardian offer Sarah his hand which she takes and then we see him carrying Sarah somewhere safe.gurdain shoots john making Kyle angry and Sarah point a gun at his head before john/t-3000 heals himself making Sarah and Kyle see why guardian had shot him.after trapping john/t-3000 in the time machine guardian looks at kyle and says-Kyle reese protect my Sarah making sarah screams noo as Kyle tries to hold her down.and then before guardian dies john/t3000 throws him into liquid metal from t-1000 assemblt line and gets the ability to shapeshift and renites with Sarah and kyle
