McColm is an established stunt man, and as such he has been in television and movie production since the late 1970s. During the first half of the 1980s, he mainly worked on television action and crime series, such as "Cagney & Lacey", "Simon & Simon", "Hardcastle and McCormick", "The Fall Guy" and "Riptide". Since the mid 80's he has mainly been working with film production, including being Arnold Schwarzenegger stunt double for the motorcycle sequence in "Terminator 2: Judgment Day".
During the 2000s he has been involved in several high budget action films, including, among others, Pearl Harbor, Daredevil, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, "Mr. & Mrs. Smith", "Apocalypto" and "Transformers".
His biggest acting role is the title role in the 1997 sci-fi TV series Night Man. In 2003 he played Agent Thompson in The Matrix Reloaded.
- David Kilde, who also played a security guard on the show and who had co-starred with McColm in the Matrix sequel, also was a stunt double for McColm's role.
