Paul Edward Winfield is the actor who portrayed Lt. Ed Traxler in The Terminator. He has also played such characters as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Cpt. Clarke Terrell in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Don King, and was cast in several mini-series' by Alex Haley. Paul's year of birth is disputed. Some sources list his birthyear as 1939, others as 1941.

Personal Life

Paul attended the University of Portland, Stanford University, Los Angeles City College and the University of California at Los Angeles. Unknown to the general public, Paul Winfield was gay[1]. He was legally married to architect Charles Gillian, Jr., and is reported to have had an "encounter" with Burgess Meredith[2].

Death

Paul died of a heart attack (leading to total heart failure) on March 7, 2004 in Los Angeles, CA. He was 64[3]. He and his life partner Charles Gillian are both interred at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Hollywood Hills, CA.
