Talk:Series T1

From Terminator Wiki

Terminator Salvation

Why is the "Salvation" part of the article not in english? --T-888

Hyphenation

The machines in the film all have numbers on them like "T1-8", "T1-14", "T1-2", etc. So while the latter number seems to be the designation of the individual unit, it seems that the series is simply "T1", not the hyphenated "T-1" as with the later series. Is there any source that says T1 should be hyphenated (before I go though and change every instance in the article)? -- Ozzel 09:38, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Dang, that's a great catch. It does appear like the special effects staff that created them also called them "T1s": [1]. That said, I've also seen people refer to the first terminator movie ("The Terminator") as T1 (along the lines of T2 and T3).
That said, we don't know for sure that the series itself isn't hyphenated? I will look for more sources here... hoping that it is actually hyphenated, for consistency's sake. --Kanamekun 12:20, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
It clearly says T1 without the hypernation on the pictures, so it seems like it's the correct way to name them. Ascaaear 17:02, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
According to the Wikipedia article on T-1's [2], in a deleted scene, its full name is given as the "T-1 Battlefield Robot.". Does anyone have the T3 DVD with this deleted scene?Unsigned comment by Kanamekun (talk • contribs).
I just checked, and that is indeed what it is called. Shall we move it to that? -- Ozzel 07:39, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
I just checked the "heads up" display for the T1-8 in Terminator 3, and it labels itself as the "T18 Prototype". So it's not even consistent between "T1-8" painted on its body and "T18 Prototype" on the head's up display. Maybe it's a prototype, so the naming convention isn't settled down yet?
Regarding the "T-1 Battlefield Robot" name, a few other terminator models also have names - like the "T-X Terminatrix". Ok that's the only one I can think of. But maybe the Battlefield Robot part is just the name, not the series number? It's just hard to say, with so many conflicting sources... --Kanamekun 07:48, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
I suggest we try to mention all names and subtypes, with the proper source. As for the article I think we just should name it "Series T1", because thats what it is. And then use the other names for "characters" in the movie. Ascaaear 17:03, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
Unfortunately T3 was very sloppy with all kinds of detail, including changing the dates for almost everything, so the internal inconsistency is not at all surprising. I would rank the highly visible named printed on them as more significant than the HUD. (So support the current name of Series T1) —MJBurrage(TC) 04:19, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
Ascaaear, I thought you wanted this page at "Series T1"? --Kanamekun 20:18, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
I know I earlier suggested it should be named "Series T1". If I remember it right... the discussion above was about naming it "T1-8" (or something) or simply "T1", not about having the "T" in series or not. I just feel that, since we do name the other series without the "T" (Series 600, Series 800 etc) we should do the same on T1. Any thoughts? Ascaaear 20:49, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Unfortunately, T3 has a number of continuity gaffes like this... I wish we could just correct them, but I'd feel more comfortable sticking with nomenclature taken directly from source material. --Kanamekun 01:57, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
But does it really say "Series T1" in T3? I just feel it look odd when all other series doesn't have the "T". Ascaaear 05:18, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
