In the Terminator universe the United States Air Force (USAF) has been linked to the development of Skynet in multiple timelines.

The Terminator

In the original unaltered timeline, Skynet was developed for SAC-NORAD (Strategic Air Command-NORth American Aerospace Defense), a fictional combination of two USAF agencies.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day

In Terminator 2: Judgment Day, it was revealed that the revolutionary microprocessor invented by Miles Dyson working for Cyberdyne Systems would be used to upgrade the USAF's stealth bombers to fully unmanned platforms. After this upgrade they flew with perfect operational records.

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines

Following alteration of the timeline the USAF would purchase the patents from Cyberdyne and contract with Cyber Research Systems to develop Skynet.
