Hello, I was wondering if it would be alright to make an article for the T-200 terminator. We have an article for the T-300 and thats fan fiction, and I know there is information on the T-200 on some terminator sites (one of which is a reference on the T-500 page. Hi Jeiara! I wanted to show you this study put together by one of Wikia's experts on Google Search Engine Optimization. With only two weeks away from the movie's release, more and more people are making Terminator related searches, but our rank in Google has actually gone down a litle bit. We have some tips and tricks we'd like to help implement here to get the wiki to come up higher in search results. I'd like to start optimizing the front page as soon as possible and talk about improving the naming system for some categories. Can you take a look at the link and let me know what you think? Cool, I'll look it over tomorrow in depth when I have more time. First impressions:

1. changing category names (making them longer to include seo key words) seems more of a hassle... what about just properly linking the keywords? i.e. 'Sarah Connor Chronicles Episodes' still goes to 'Category:Episodes' or forward 'Category:Sarah Connor Chronicles Episodes' to 'Category:Episodes' ? if i remember correctly, the googlebot looks at the words in the link, not the name of the page the link is pointing to...
2. because the renewal status of SCC is in limbo, we can replace the 'to do' with a paragraph about the show
3. same for T4, we can replace the 'to do' pages, and have paragraph about the film
4. the characters under Category:Characters haven't been put into a sub-category yet (sub-categories were made later)
5. Marcus Wright is under Category:Characters >> Category:Film characters >> Marcus Wright
6. also the phrase you want to use Terminator 4: Salvation, same thing: just tell editors to use that phrase when linking, why do you need to change the article/category?
7. for PageRank, if the wiki was part of the network of terminator fan sites (terminator files, sarah connor society, etc.) we'd definitely have higher PR. Google looks at who links to who, because of fox's wiki we had stiff competition getting publicity and getting linked to by major terminator sites.
8. is there a way to add the "nofollow" attribute to imagemaps if you want to ignore the composite image?

Hey, this is great! Paragraphs on the main page is something I can do today. It's easy and quick, which is good for SEO (search engine optimization); the sooner, the better, since the movie is only two weeks away. I'm not sure about "nofollow" on the imagemap. I don't think it will make a difference, but I can get more details on that. I agree that Terminator 4: Salvation doesn't make sense. The title is Terminator Salvation and the pages should reflect the actual name. With categories, I think having Marcus Wright in Category:Terminator Salvation Characters is better than having it in Category:Film Characters. Any article in that category is going to link to the better SEO name and give us better results. I know this is a big change, but I have a team of Wikia Helpers who can get this done really quick without a hassle to the community here. —Scott (talk) 16:19, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

RE: 100 links

I re-visited my SEO sites, and "Matt Cutts explained why the links need no longer be strictly fewer than 100 in a page. In there he said that originally Google was only able to index 100Kb per page so that having more than 100 links can lead to parts of the page not being indexed, however, these days Google can index more than that." How many links per page?

Here's an important part of that page: "At any rate, you’re dividing the PageRank of that page between hundreds of links, so each link is only going to pass along a minuscule amount of PageRank anyway."

So, we've created a mock-up of the front page here that removes a number of sections dedicated to the wiki community that don't really need to be on the front page. The extra stuff we've placed here for now, although I admit it could use some formatting help. What do you think? I'd like to get the fewer links version live today if possible, so that we increase our chances of being ranked higher with each time Google indexes us over the next week which may only be once or twice. —Scott (talk) 19:54, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

I love the idea, but unfortunatley Google still counts those links. Take a look at the main page for World of Warcraft. They've got five tabs in the main section of the page that bring up different sections. But if you look at what Google sees, they're still counting those links.

I think a Community Portal for this wiki would be a great place for regular users to use as their entry point to the site. We could include all the stuff that visitors don't need and even add some more goodies like editor stats. We have a small page like that on Muppet Wiki. It's not quite the community hub I'm proposing here, but you get the idea for the potential of this space. Most importantly though, using that page will clear up the front of the site to maximize the wiki's SEO potential. —Scott (talk) 22:27, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, Google can see WoWiki tabs, but I'm not using theirs. I'm using the Yahoo! YUI TabView library. I set it up so if you do not have javascript, you will not see any tabs, just the static content. If you have javascript on, the script will make the main static content into a 1) Welcome tab and dynamically load two tabs: 2) Community 3) What you can do. Oh wow, that's interesting! I checked Google's cache and it does indeed appear to be ignoring those links. Thanks for putting that together, I'm definately going to keep an eye on it as Google crawls the site again and see how much of a difference it makes. Hello, I'll see if I can adjust the spacing, but that area was made to align with the 300x250px ad box to the right. Minus the quick links bar, the alloted height is 230px for the characters. Image Upload ToolEdit

Hi -- after you browse/find an image and click "upload", the next screen has options for copyright license and how to insert it on the page; although it's after the upload button is pushed the image is not uploaded unless you actually insert it onto the page, so the license is applied properly. I don't see anything about image tags however, nor do I remember anyone using them from there, but I can ask around and see. Infobox templates Edit

I write it here because it's about more than one infobox: It seems that at least Template:Infobox Character and Template:Infobox Machine produce empty lines at the end. Some questions Edit

Some questions; if they were discussed elsewhere - sorry (also sorry for not putting them into the related discussion pages).

1. Is the a default order of the different sections (synopsis etc.) the TSCC's episode articles? I saw that there a different sortings and I was gonna to match them, e.g.: Synopsis, Continuity, Nitpicks, Notes, Q&A, Monologue, Quotes, Characters (Starring, Guest starring, Co-starring), External links, See also, References.
2. The IMDb template produces some empty lines afterwards.
3. I don't think that the episode title template needs to produce bold text if you use it in the related article.
4. I think in the episode box template it should say "Air Date (USA)" or similar.
5. Is there some inofficial agreement when to discuss more or less bigger changes in articles or just do it? -Wikicide 22:26, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

3. Are you referring to Template:Title or something else?
4. Are you talking about the new episode infobox or the current one? Compare "The Demon Hand" vs. "Vick's Chip"
5. For articles, you can mention why you changed something on the discussion page, if it's something really major, you can ask everyone at Terminator Wiki:Current events. So yeah, if you want to change something just do it! :) (I feel like a Nike commercial)

Okay I did a quick search and found this: There is currently a temporary problem with the image servers. It is being worked on as we speak. Hi, I been encountering problems with the Terminator Wiki recently. Whenever I try to access the site I receive a message that tells me that the connection has failed. I visited various other wikis and, aside from the Mass Effect wiki, this is the only one that is giving me trouble. I wondered whether the site has undergone some sort of, what d'ya call it, system check? Or something. Or maybe it's just my computer, I dunno. If you, or anyone else, have experienced similar problems it might answer a few questions. Hopefully, it's just a glitch in the system and will repair itself over time, but this is the first time I've been able to access the site in several days. I appreciate any help you can give. I'm thinking it's probably your ISP (Internet Service Provider), but if you can't reach the site again, and you want to make sure it's not you... you can try these two online tools: Ping and TraceRoute — type terminator.wikia.com in the box and it will tell you if it can reach the site or not. Yeah I thought it might be ISP, but I did a connection check and it told me that there was nothing wrong with my connection so I was a little baffled. I think it's more-or-less sorted now though (this message being testament to the fact), so I'll just dismiss it as a glitch. A Little Help Edit

I recently created a new page (Episode 201) and have suddenly realised that, when the episode's title is revealed, I'll have to either rename the page or delete it and start afresh. I don't know how to do this and I was wondering if you could help. Darth Raivon 11:40, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Oh hey, it's easy pie to "change the title". There is usually a link at the top called "Move" and that page will let you move/change page name. Here's the full link http://terminator.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Movepage/Episode_201 if you don't see it. So when the Episode name comes out, that's all you got to do. Google MapEdit

Hi, the googlemaps extension hasn't been installed yet on this wiki...I made a request to Wikia and still waiting to hear back from them. In the meantime, if you really want to dive in, you can try it on your user page on the Central Wikia, which already has the googlemaps extension installed. Major Overhaul Edit

Hey, I'm a big fan of the Terminator franchise, but it saddens me to see this Wiki overcluttered, messy, full of stubs, missing references, and not up-to-date.

I've looked at popular Wikis like Lostpedia and Wookiepedia, and am interested in modeling this after them. However, this will take some time and adding a lot of stuff. As you can see here, I've tried to sort of rework the Main Page, but I will still need to add icons and images and do a little more tweaks to make in cleaner. I just wanted your approval to what I plan on doing.

Also, one of my suggestions is renaming this Wiki "Wikinator" instead of "Terminator Wiki." What do you think about that? - Henrythai (talk) 22:13, August 20, 2012 (UTC)

Correction to webpage name Edit

Hello. I contacted the wikia guys and they recommend I contact you regarding changing the name of a web page. It is wikia/Kacy_Cotton it should be wikia/Kacy_Corbin
